Text Box: Artist Investment Initiative Golden Door Productions, Inc., will identify individuals who demonstrate talent in the performing arts and provide funding for the training and development of professional skills, including, but not limited to, lessons and professional consultation. The individual will receive: Private lessons, including, but not limited to, any necessary expenses associated with such lessons. Consultation and/or representation by a talent agent or professional. Performance and/or showcase opportunities, with or without other artists of like talent. Golden Door Productions, Inc. will receive: Exclusive representation of said individual, and, where allowed, Golden Door Productions, Inc., shall retain any earned income derived from such performances. When another organization wishes to present individual, GDP will share on a favored nations basis any earned income. Term: Until such time that Golden Door Productions, Inc. ceases to fund the program by a vote of the Board of Directors, or the individual has returned the equivalent of the funding to Golden Door Productions, in the case of an individual no longer wishing to pursue a career in the arts, or the earned income from the presentation of the individuals talent has covered the program çost plus fifteen percent, whichever comes first. Golden Door Productions will monitor the progress of the individual and expects the individual to train diligently and exploit all the possibilities of reaching their artistic potential and skill. This program is by invitation. Organizing and incorporating your group as a not-for-profit can make a lot of sense for a lot of reasons: fundraising, development, insurance, etc. It is also a lot of work. New York City is littered with the remains of abandoned and failed attempts at incorporation. The fact is, some of the groups did not need to be formed. What these groups wanted to do was not file incorporation papers, file taxes with the state, finance insurance programs… What these groups wanted to do was simply put on a show. When the administrative work snowballed, the artistic work suffered, and the groups began to falter. Soon, there was another failed company. If your reason for incorporating a company is that you want that experience, we at Golden Door salute you. If, however, what you really want is just to do a show, Golden Door can help. Golden Door began acting as an umbrella organization, producing for groups who are not interested in the hassle of administration, with the presentation of Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me in the spring of 2005. Upcoming showcases planned by Golden Door include No Exit and Medea. Assistance with planning, marketing, budgeting, insurance, and development can all be provided. In fact, we can basically help you with everything except your show… because that belongs to you. After all, we are not here to control your product; we are here to help you get it up and running.
